In September we held our annual Industry Engagement Day.
We welcomed colleagues, supervisors and industry partners to Highfield Campus to showcase what our CDT and our students have achieved in the past year.
We asked our first student cohort to design a poster outlining their research project as well as present their Interdisciplinary Group Projects to our attendees. Each of these projects were suggested by industry partners at last year’s event. One of our teams were given the prompt “Examining the Role of Wearable Technologies in Treating MSK Injuries: A Gender Equity Perspective in Military Health” which led to them developing a prototype for smart leggings. The success of this project has meant that we’ve been able to continue this as a PhD project in the CDT which is being undertaken by one of our new students in our second cohort.
We also held a panel session with academics and industry to discuss the challenges currently faced by the D&S Sector. The panel answered questions from the attendees, which sparked interesting and fruitful discussions.
At the end of the day, we held a collaborative session with some of our industry partners where we asked them for project ideas for this year’s Interdisciplinary Group Project. With the success of last year, we are excited to see what fantastic ideas the 2025/26 student cohort have.
